Christopher was selected by Spider-Man director Sam Raimi and producer Ian Bryce to co-create Spider-Man’s signature movement for the groundbreaking first film—at a time when no one knew how the iconic hero would actually move on screen.
During initial development meetings, when Raimi and Bryce approached Cirque du Soleil for a partnership, the company declined. In that moment, a publicist suggested Christopher as an alternative.
Christopher collaborated directly with Raimi and Bryce to develop Spider-Man’s distinctive “wall climb” and “web-slinging” sequences, which were later taught to Tobey Maguire.
Christopher dedicated eighteen months to this creation period, flying from Las Vegas to Los Angeles every weekend before principal photography even began.
After filming started, Raimi called Christopher back to coach the stunt team, further cementing his integral role in bringing Spider-Man to life.
Christopher has shared stories from this extraordinary experience at Comic-Con and WonderCon panels.
